Operating Principle
The light emitted from a high-intensity GaN green LED transforms into uniform parallel light by passing through the special diffusion unit (*1) and the collimator lens before being irradiated on the measuring target object. At this time, the image of a shadow created by the measuring target object is projected with a high degree of accuracy on the HL (High Speed Linear) - CCD via the telecentric optical system (*2). Based on the received light output sent from the HL-CCD, the edge detection processor in the controller and the CPU carry out an operation, and then the dimensions of the target object are displayed and output. When the LS-7030M and LS-7500 (Keyence) are used together, the optical system which was divided by the beam splitter image forms a monitor image of the target object on the CMOS image sensor and it is displayed on the TFT LCD (Liquid Crystal Diode) monitor on the controller as a video signal (target viewer function).
*1 What is special diffusion unit?
The special diffusion unit is a diffuser which transforms the light emitted from the high-intensity green LED into a uniform light source with even light intensity, and it was specially designed for the LS-7000 series (Keyence). The "uniform light source with even light intensity" which was achieved by this special diffusion unit contributes to a highly accurate measurement of the LS-7000 series.
*2 What is telecentric?
This is a special optical system which uses s telecentric lens. The most outstanding feature is that the size of the image on the CCD never changes even if the target object moves to the emitted/received light direction. In the case of normal lenses, an image is enlarged/reduced if the object is placed near/far, and thus, the measurements change depending on the position where an object is placed between emitted and received light. However, if the telecentric lens is used, the measurements do not change even if the object is moved.
Target Viewer Function
When the LS-7030M and LS-7500 are used together, the optical system which was divided by the beam splitter image forms a monitor image of the target object on the CMOS image sensor and it is displayed on the TFT LCD (Liquid Crystal Diode) monitor on the controller as a video signal. The measurement position can be quickly checked on the monitor.
